A Building Classification System for Multi-hazard Risk Assessment

چکیده

Abstract A uniform and comprehensive classification system, often referred to as taxonomy, is fundamental for the characterization of building portfolios natural hazard risk assessment. taxonomy characterizes assets according attributes that can influence likelihood damage due effects hazards. Within scope Global Earthquake Model (GEM) initiative, a (GEM Building Taxonomy V2.0) was developed with goal classifying buildings their seismic vulnerability. This contained 13 attributes, including main material construction, lateral load-resisting date construction number stories. Since its release in 2012, has been used by hundreds experts working on exposure modeling efforts. These applications allowed identification several limitations, which led improvement expansion this into new system compatible multi-hazard expanded (named GED4ALL) includes more details relevant exposed hazards beyond earthquakes. GED4ALL applied international initiatives, enabling most common classes world, facilitating compatibility between models databases vulnerability databases.

Assessment of desertification hazard, risk and development of management plans

About 80 percent of Iran is arid and semi-arid and about 35 percent of this area is susceptible to desertification hazard. Therefore desertification assessment and identification of the most important criteria for the assessment of risk and a basis for development of management plans is essential. This research was conducted in the semi-arid region of Agh-Band in the Golestan province, Iran wit...

Hazard/Risk Assessment HAZARD ASSESSMENT OF TEMEPHOS APPLIED TO A SOUTHWEST FLORIDA, USA, SALT MARSH COMMUNITY

This investigation was undertaken to determine whether the mosquito larvicide temephos (applied as Abate 4-Et) created an environmental hazard for nontarget organisms in a southwest Florida salt marsh community. Field toxicity tests were performed during routine larvicide applications using larvae of salt marsh crabs (Aratus pesonii and Uca rapax) and adult Mysidopsis bahia. Laboratory toxicity...

Panchromatic Satellite Image Classification for Flood Hazard Assessment

The study aims to investigate the use of panchromatic (PAN) satellite image data for flood hazard assessment with an aid of various digital image processing techniques. Two SPOT PAN satellite images covering part of the Nile River in Egypt were used to delineate the flood extent during the years 1997 and 1998 (before and after a high flood). Three classification techniques, including the contex...
